Heat Exchanger Tube

Heat Exchanger Tube Manufacturer & Supplier

Heat Exchanger Tube are a common site throughout the engineering world and are one of the two most common types of heat exchanger; the other common type being the plate heat exchanger. Heat Exchanger Tube have a simple design, robust characteristics and relatively low purchase and maintenance costs. They also have a very high heat transfer rate although they require more space than a plate heat exchanger of similar thermal exchange capacity.

The tube side medium is usually selected for the high pressure fluid as each tube can act as a small pressure vessel; it is also more cost effective to produce high pressure rated tubes than it is to produce a high pressure rated shell. The shell and tube heat exchanger is split into two main systems, referred to as the shell side and tube side.

The heat exchanger tubes are finned to ensure better heat transfer. Cooling air supply is realized by mechanical draft. This system has the advantage that the steam is condensed directly so that no additional recooling system is required, and capital and operating costs decrease.

Heat-exchanger tubes should not be confused with steel pipe or other types of pipe that are extruded to steel pipe sizes. The outside diameter of heat-exchanger tubes is the actual outside diameter in inches within a very strict tolerance. Heat-exchanger tubes are available in a variety of metals including steel, copper, brass, 70-30 copper-nickel, aluminum bronze, aluminum, and stainless steel. They are obtainable in several wall thicknesses defined by the Birmingham Wire Gauge (B.W.G.), which is usually referred to as the B.W.G. or gauge of the tube.
